The A'Beka curriculum is used in all
classes from Preschool through 8th Grade. A'Beka curriculum
began in 1972 and is based in Pensacola, Florida. It is
Bible-based and a highly acclaimed curriculum that is used
worldwide in over 40,000 private and Christian schools.
Chapel
Every Friday our
students attend chapel here at DBCS. This motivating
service is centered on every student strengthening their
relationship with Jesus Christ. Praise is such a vital
part of the overall worship experience, and in our
chapel service we sing out in praise to our God. Songs
are fun and alive even when we sing the great hymns of
the Faith! With an encouraging lesson and real Bible
truth, our kids come away encouraged, lifted up, and
hopefully even a little closer to God! This is not by
accident, we want our students to grow and mature
spiritually as they learn academics and develop into men
and women of strong character.
Bible
The King James version is the only approved Biblical
text accepted at Daytona Beach Christian School. The
school office sells Bibles for just $5.00 each. Bob
Jones Press Bible curriculum is used on a daily basis in
all our classrooms.
Arithmetic, Pre Algebra & Algebra I
We strive to provide curriculum that has been tested,
revised and used to train students in basic Arithmetic,
Pre-algebra and Algebra 1. These skills will last the
student a lifetime.
Art
Art is offered each Monday to preschool through upper
elementary classes. Classes offer the students an
opportunity for expression through the arts. Some
classes offer drawing, painting, various media, and
other aspects of art and design. The ABeka art
curriculum is used as well as other materials.
Computer
Computer is offered each Wednesday to preschool
through upper elementary classes. Computer is offered on
Friday to all middle school students. This class offers
the basic computer training required to operate a
computer. Middles school students are offered training
in Microsoft office, Internet, and other programs and
educational software.
History
We strive to offer a Christian and
conservative approach to the study of mankind.
Language
We strive to give students the tools
they need to write effectively, speak clearly and read
with comprehension. Particular attention is thus given
to the teaching of grammar, spelling, vocabulary,
composition and literature.
Spanish
We use Rosetta Stone as our basic Spanish curriculum.
This is enhanced by the use of other criteria as well as
the experience of the Spanish teacher. Students in the
3rd grade through middle school attend these classes
each Thursday.
Music
This class is
offered each Tuesday and is a graded program for
preschool through elementary. Using primarily Bob Jones
University Press music curriculum it emphasizes a study
of music theory, the basic concept of music and choral
training
Reading
We strive to ensure basic reading
with a superb foundation in phonics and language
instruction.
Science
We present the universe as the direct
creation of God and refute the man-made hypothesis of
evolution.
The A'Beka curriculum gives the student
a quality education from a Christian perspective, and gives
a Scriptural foundation for academic excellence and good
character training.
